A Russian state broadcaster has released drone footage showing the massive destruction of the Damascus suburb of Jobar, where Syrian regime forces have advanced on the rebels.

The footage, shot by a team working for Russia's state broadcaster VGTRK, is half news package, half propaganda. Set to the song "High Roller" by American electronica duo Crystal Method, it shows Syrian army battle tanks firing on rebel positions before panning to the devastated urban landscape of Jobar.

The video is the latest from Russia's powerful state-sponsored media, which, like its military, is backing the Syrian regime. The video has gotten more than 800,000 views since it was published on Monday.

The country's TV broadcasters have been working in overdrive to persuade the Russian public of the importance of the airstrikes in Syria, which the Kremlin began last month. Public support for the intervention, low in early September, has since increased significantly, polls from Levada Center, an independent Moscow-based pollster, show.

The video was produced by RussiaWorks, a Russian film company with ties to the Kremlin. The company, headed by Alexander Pushin, specializes in producing drone footage. Pushin has published other videos from Syria, including the one below.
