Ryan Adams has accomplished the impossible: he sounds more heartbroken than Taylor Swift while singing a Taylor Swift song.

The first full track from his Taylor Swift cover album, "Bad Blood," is out now -- and it's the perfect soundtrack for a day spent depressed and unable to leave your bed bed in the '90s. Adams also announced that his reinterpretation of 1989 will be out Monday Sept. 21, and shared the cover of that album, which features a flock of seagulls. Just like the original.

He debuted the first full track from the album, an acoustic "Bad Blood" aching with nostalgia, on Zane Lowe's Beats1 radio show. Adams isn't up for a fight; he's just bummed out.

Zane Lowe - Apple Music

Adams will talk about the album with Lowe on Monday's show, along with guitarist Todd Wisenbaker and a "special guest surprising him on the phone." Hopefully, that means Taylor Swift; anyone else would just be disappointing.

TSwift, who has previously expressed support for the project and her admiration for Adams as a songwriter, shared the news as well, calling it "surreal and dreamlike."

Ryan's music helped shape my songwriting. This is surreal and dreamlike. Countdown to #RyanAdams1989@TheRyanAdams pic.twitter.com/pGZB0uUqiB— Taylor Swift (@taylorswift13) September 17, 2015

You can get an instant download of "Bad Blood" by pre-ordering the album on Apple Music before 9 p.m. tonight PDT. CD and vinyl releases will follow.
