Artists always see more open when they're talking to other artists. That's probably why when it came time to find someone to interview current cover star Taylor Swift on video, GQ picked the best possible candidate: Ryan Adams, whose recent album-length cover of Swift's 1989 simultaneously reimagines and honors Swift's original record.

The two mesh like old friends and collaborators in the interview, even though they're neither (yet). They discuss unusual inspirations, recharging their creativity, and, of course, the omniscient and nefarious Siri. Swift compares Adams' cover album to an actor reinterpreting dialogue with entirely new delivery; she also describes a vivid and jarring dream about an ex that prompted her to write "All You Had To Do Was Stay."
