Early Wednesday morning, a gun battle took place in Saint-Denis, a northern suburb of Paris. The siege lasted for more than seven hours and two people were killed during the raids, including a suicide bomber who detonated a vest. Seven others were arrested.

The apartment raided was believed to have been the hiding location of terrorists suspected to be involved in Friday's attacks in Paris. Residents of Saint-Denis were told to stay indoors and some were evacuated by police.
