In addition to its new Kitchen Collection of home appliances, including a refrigerator, dishwasher and oven, Samsung unveiled an eyebrow-raising kitchen-specific Galaxy tablet Monday at CES.

Samsung will give those who purchase certain new appliances with a rebate the Chef Collection tablet until March 31.

The tablet is bundled with a cutting board, pre-loaded with a cooking app and works with the new Samsung kitchen appliances. The Chef Collection is also a standalone app that includes recipes from Samsung's food partners (including recipe aggregator BigOven) and Samsung's hired professional chefs. The app will be available for download this spring.

It's not quite clear if the tablet's available as anything other than a limited-time gift offer from Samsung. Regardless, the announcement was a bit strange compared to the tech developer's other reveals and the tablet has gotten its share of criticism.

Hey Samsung, you do know you can install food apps on regular tablets too right? Chef Tablet is lame.— Christina Warren (@film_girl) January 5, 2015

Samsung isn't the only company to dream up a cooking tablet: Archos has one called ChefPad. To get Samsung's, you'll have to shell out quite a bit. The dishwasher, for one, is $1,599.
