Samsung Rumored to Launch Another Smart Watch in Early 2014

Samsung may have just unveiled its Galaxy Gear smart watch with much fanfare two weeks ago, but it may already be working on the next generation of the device, according to a new report.

As reported by CNET, Korean news site Digital Times says the Samsung is hard at work on the Galaxy Gear 2, which could hit the market in early 2014, possibly at the International Consumer Electronics Show in January or Mobile World Congress in February. Its first-generation smart watch, unveiled on Sept. 4, is scheduled to go on sale in October.

The Galaxy Gear 2 is expected to have a longer-lasting battery, GPS integration and support for more Android devices, which -- as of right now -- only works with the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 smartphone.

Although it's surprising Samsung might launch the Galaxy Gear 2 just months after its first model, the move could help the company test the market before it launches an even smarter smart watch.

But because back-to-back launches of the same product are rare, and the company will likely want to monitor sales and user feedback for longer than just a few months, we'll sit tight and see if this actually happens as soon as expected.
