It looks like the phablet and stylus combination is a hit with consumers.

Samsung has sold 3 million units of its Galaxy Note II smartphone worldwide in the just more than one month since it launched, the company told The Associated Press.

The phone, which features an exceptionally large, 5.6-inch screen and comes with a stylus (or S Pen, as Samsung calls it), was first launched in South Korea in September and rolled out to other countries in October. There were questions leading up to the launch of whether that screen size was too big, but if the sales are any indication, consumers don't seem to mind much.

The new Galaxy Note is selling at a much faster pace than the original model. It took Samsung two months to ship one million units of the first Galaxy Note at the end of last year.

While this sales figure is impressive, it's worth keeping in mind that Apple sold 5 million units of the iPhone 5 in the first weekend alone. Of course, the Galaxy Note II is just one of many smartphones Samsung offers. Overall, Samsung is estimated to have shipped twice as many smartphones as Apple did last quarter.
