Samsung Reports Record Profit in Q2

Samsung has reported a record $5.86 billion quarterly profit, up 79% from the same period last year, fueled by very good smartphone sales.

According to Strategy Analytics, Samsung shipped 50.5 million smartphones in Q2, nearly twice as much as Apple, which is estimated to have shipped 26 million units.

Facebook Now Has 955 Million Active Users

At its yesterday's earning call Facebook revealed it now has more than 955 million active users. It's an incredible feat for any online service, but still shy of 1 billion -- a number many have expected Facebook to hit during Q2 2012.

Amazon's Quarterly Earnings Report Misses Analysts' Expectations

Amazon has released its Q2 2012 earnings, reporting a $12.83 billion in revenue and a whopping 96% decrease in net income, which dropped from $191 million in Q2 2011 to a mere $7 million in Q2 2012. This is due, in part, to Amazon's $65 million estimated net loss related to the acquisition and integration of Kiva Systems.
