Samsung Reports Record Quarter on Galaxy Phone Sales

Samsung has reported a $7.3 billion profit in another record quarter, driven by sales of Samsung Galaxy smartphones, Reuters reports.

This is a four straight record quarter for the company, and the projected yearly profit is also a record $25 billion. While the profits from Samsung's chip business diminished, strong Galaxy sales generated around $4.5 billion, which is around two thirds of the company's total profit.

Microsoft to Update Built-In Windows 8 Apps

Microsoft has announced a massive list of updates to its built-in Windows 8 apps, which will coincide with the general availability of the new OS on Oct. 26.

Some of the apps to receive an update are Skydrive, Mail, Photos, Maps, Bing, Finance, News, Sports, Video, Music and Games.

Hipstamatic Updates App for iPhone 5, Adds Multiple Exposures

Popular mobile retro photography app Hipstamatic has received an update which makes it compatible with the iPhone 5. The $1.99 app also adds multiple exposures, new camera cases and flash switch, a free "Rock the Vote" film pack and some interface improvements. You can get it here.
