Plane Crashes While Landing at San Francisco Airport

A plane has crashed while landing in San Francisco, according to multiple news reports.

Details of the crash are still unknown, but the Federal Aviation Administration has confirmed to CNN that a Boeing 777 operated by Asiana Airlines flying from Seoul, South Korea, crashed around 2:30 p.m. EDT on Saturday on the runway of the San Francisco International Airport.

UPDATE, 4:28 p.m. EDT: According to KTVU, a fire department source says two passengers died in the crash. It's unclear if there are more victims and we'll update the story as we find out more.

David Eun, a Samsung executive, was on the plane. After getting out of the airplane, he took a close-up picture of the plane on fire from the tarmac.

I just crash landed at SFO. Tail ripped off. Most everyone seems fine. I'm ok. Surreal... (at @flySFO) [pic] — https://t.co/E6Ur1XEfa4— David Eun (@Eunner) July 6, 2013

Eun added that he was "fine" and that "most people are totally calm and trying to let the fire and rescue do their jobs."

A video of the plane in flames has been posted on YouTube.

Multiple eyewitnesses at SFO have posted pictures of the smoke coming out of the plane on Twitter.

According to early news reports, it appears the plane's tail hit the tarmac while landing, what's called a "tail strike." The tail came off and the plane reportedly veered off the runway, according to local channel KTVU. There are still no reported injuries. The airport is currently shut down, and all flights are cancelled.

From TV news broadcasts, the damage on the plane was evident.
