A man legally named Santa Claus is running for a city council city in North Pole, Alaska.

Let that sink in for a moment. Santa is real, you guys.

The Alaska-based website Newsminer reports that Mr. Claus is the real deal -- Santa Claus is the man's legal name. He recently launched a write-in campaign for one of two seats on the North Pole City Council.

Claus is the former president of the North Pole Chamber of Commerce, and has voiced support for the sale of marijuana in North Pole in the past.

According to his Facebook page, Claus is a child advocate and Christian monk. He does not, however, respond to emails, letters or messages requesting presents.
