A man dressed as Santa Claus held up a KFC restaurant at knifepoint on Saturday in Derbyshire, England.

He climbed through a window before demanding cash and threatening staff at the fast food chain on Nottingham Road, Alfreton, at 10:30 p.m., before and escaping into the night.

Local police are calling for witnesses and described the man as "about 5 feet, 10 inches tall and stocky."

A spokesman for KFC confirmed the robbery, but said that the place was closed to customers when the incident occurred.

"Thankfully, the restaurant was shut and no one was hurt," they said, though some staff were still inside. "But we are offering employees any support they need."

It's not clear how much money was stolen.

Anyone in the UK with information is asked to call police on 101.
