He knows when you are sleeping, he knows when you're awake, and he now knows when you're Googling things you shouldn't.

A new browser extension called "Keep Believing in Santa" blocks content with "untruths" about the big man in red with giant images of Santa watching you.

When enabled, the extension, which is available for Chrome and Firefox, covers up potentially anti-Santa material with an image of Santa pointing a watchful finger at you.

Created by VPN company Hide My Ass, the company says it was inspired to create the tool after conducting a poll that suggested the Internet could be at least partially blame for "driving down the age that children stop believing in Santa."

"Whether it was because they saw online adverts for gifts they’ve asked Santa for, because they had searched for Santa online and stumbled across websites revealing his true origins or because of an unfortunate social media post, the Internet is becoming a key reason for belief in Santa to come crashing down," the company says.

In our testing, the app successfully blocked Google searches like "is Santa Real" and "Santa is fake," along with other websites containing potential Santa-related "untruths" (including this post), though, it takes a second or two to activate. So while not totally foolproof, it could help give anxious parents some peace of mind when handing over their computer.
