A brand new Mystery Machine will pull into theaters in Sept. 21, 2018.

Warner Bros. is working on an animated Scooby-Doo film. The film will hearken back to the days of the mystery solving Velma, Daphne, Fred, Shaggy and, of course, everyone's favorite crime-sniffing Great Dane, Scooby-Doo.

“Like countless fans, I have always loved the Hanna-Barbera cast of characters,” said Greg Silverman, Warner Bros. president of creative development and worldwide production. “As one of their most famous brand ambassadors, Scooby-Doo will take the lead in reintroducing this pantheon of enduringly popular animated stars on a grand scale with an exciting new movie.”

Tony Cervone, who produced the 2010 animated series Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated, will direct the project.

This will be the third recent(ish) film to bring the Scooby squad to the big screen. The live-action adaptations Scooby-Doo and Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed were released in 2002 and 2004, starring Freddie Prinze Jr., Sarah Michelle Gellar, Matthew Lillard and Linda Cerdellini as the main quartet. Actor Neil Fanning performed the voice of the CGI Scooby.
