Scripps Pushes HGTV Content Further with Zillow Competitor

Scripps has already begun pushing its premium video content through the web with a new partnership with Maven. Now it has unveiled a new real estate service called FrontDoor, that also comes complete with 300+ videos from HGTV. FrontDoor will also have a new exclusive video series called "Cool Houses Daily."

With just over 1 million property listings coming straight from REalogy and Sotheby's International Reality, Scripps is leveraging its existing relationship with those companies in the real estate industry to offer up its own online resources for potential buyers and others heavily interested in real estate. That makes FrontDoor a competitor with sites like Zillow, which have had to work a little harder to get acceptance from the real estate industry.

Zillow has achieved a great deal in the past few months, however, signing partnerships with brokerage firms and newspapers, including Scripps.

As with other major media publishers, Scripps is turning to the online sector in order to get extended support and distribution options for its content. The company has even launched Scripps Interactive, which FrontDoor will probably be tied with in some capacity. So far, HGTV seems to be the apple of Scripps' eye, as the company has launched "Rate My Room" in conjunction with HGTV content as well.
