A lone scuba diver at Cienaga Springs in Colorado had quite the scare when he swam upon what he thought were skeletal human remains at the bottom of the river. After phoning the La Paz County Sheriff's Office and the Buckskin Fire Department, a diver was sent down with a camera to survey the scene.

"When firefighter Foerstner located the alleged remains, he found it to be an underwater tea party with two fake skeletons sitting in lawn chairs," the sheriff's department told NBC News in a statement.

The skeletons had been posed to look as though they were simply chillin' in the riverbed — complete with sunglasses and comfy chairs.

One of the skeletons held a sign that was made illegible due to overgrown algae covering it, but the date "8-16-2014" was visible, suggesting that the skeletons had been placed in their underwater living room last summer.

Perhaps, instead of reporting the skeletons, the startled diver should have just taken a load off and had a drink with them.
