Second Life at 2 Million - It's only two months since Mashable mentioned that the virtual world of Second Life had exceeded 1 million registrations. Yesterday they hit 2 million, although only a tiny fraction of those users log in regularly.
Friendster Profiles - We've no idea when this happened, but Friendster have finally fixed their lame profile pages. Profiles are now centered, fixed width and look a lot more like those on MySpace, Tagworld and the rest. See Mashable's profile here and feel free to add us to your friends.
ElfYourself - A fun holiday promotion from OfficeMax. Upload a photo to the ElfYourself site to see your own head on a dancing elf's body, then send the link to friends. This would have been much bigger if they'd provided code to paste on MySpace, hi5 and blogs. (via)
MySpace Marketing - The American Legacy Foundation announced its plan to spread an anti-smoking message by setting up profiles on the major social networks: MySpace, hi5, Bebo, Piczo and Xanga. They also plan to provide "viral" materials on these pages, they say. After a lot of searching, I can't find any of the profiles mentioned.
Stikkit Funding - Stikkit announced at the weekend that they've added First Round Capital to their Series A round of funding. Translation: they're backed by some smart people. Stikkit, you'll remember, is a sticky notes service that launched in November.
MeasuredUp Launches - MeasuredUp is another new reviews site that announced its launch today. The interface is odd, and Firefox users will need to disable Adblock to see most of the graphics. Like many of these collaborative review sites, it feels like nothing more than a glamorized blog.
