Sermo, the online social network for physicians, has just raised another $25 million in a Series C round of funding. The round was led by Legg Mason, and returning investors include Longworth Venture Partners and Softbank Capital.

You may remember that Sermo is a closed community for physicians to share knowledge with each other, post comments, stories, and other forms of contribution, and vote on content submitted by others. The purpose is to create an online community where physicians can consult with colleagues from beyond their local or personal networks. We first covered Sermo here, when it launched late last year. Previous rounds of funding brought in $3 million and $9.5 million, bringing the total amount of capital raised to $37.5 million.
