Show Us a Strong Shadow for Our Photo Challenge

Every object with a mass -- a person, plant or building -- has a shadow that can transform it into a surreal image. For this week's round of the Mashable Photo Challenge Guest Series, we want you to capture those strong shadows in a photograph. Guest curator Victor Bezrukov will select his favorite submissions to feature on Mashable.

Bezrukov, an Israel native, works as an information technology and security specialist. He picked up photography as a side hobby almost a decade ago, and he now practices both digital and analog photography -- and develops black and white film at home.

Bezrukov's Instagram account is filled with shadows.

"I've found that shadows can add beautiful dimension to subjects and can create strong geometry within scenes," he said. "Strong, well-defined and interesting shadows attract our attention -- those are what I want to see for this week's challenge."

Follow the directions below to submit your photos by Monday, Oct. 21, at 12 p.m. ET. Bezrukov will choose his favorite submissions to feature on Mashable, as well as on our Facebook album, Pinterest board and Google+ page.

Consider Bezrukov's tips for your submissions:

"The best way to shoot a photo with strong shadows is to hunt your surroundings for light," he advised. "Follow the light and you will find shadows."
