Like its trailer, the first song of Shah Rukh Khan's forthcoming film Fan captures the culture of celebrity worshipping Bollywood superstars in India. In Jabra Fan, Khan adopts the persona of Gaurav, a young boy obsessed with a Bollywood star similar to his real-life status.

In the opening sequece, Gaurav complains that his family doesn't understand that his idol isn't just a star but his entire world. Images of his hero can be seen everywhere, from billboards, to hand-drawn film hoardings to market stalls. Khan's uninhibited dancing is a lot of fun to watch, but the closing frame suggests that this isn't a film with a happy ending.

The song's setting in the markets and bylanes of Delhi -- where Khan spent his early years before coming to India's entertainment capital Mumbai -- also hints that there may be several autobiographical elements in the film. It'll be interesting to see if the film gives us any insights into Khan's own journey from being a theatre actor to one of India's biggest superstars.

Fan releases on Apr. 15, 2016.
