CHATTAHOOCHEE HILLS, Georgia -- Like standing beside tinier opponents on a basketball court, NBA legend Shaquille O'Neal towered over spectators at TomorrowWorld, where the 7-foot-1 athlete DJ'ed a set at the House Of Books stage on Friday.
Known widely just as Shaq, he used a different name on the roster. Out of his many nicknames -- Shaq Fu, Superman, Shaq Daddy and more -- he settled on DJ Diesel.
The 43-year-old attracted an impressive crowd for his performance despite going by DJ Diesel instead of simply Shaq on promotional materials and the official lineup.
Shaq's involvement at this electronic music festival may seem odd at first glance, but if you take his previous musical endeavors into consideration, his DJ role isn't as far-fetched.
He released several rap albums in the 1990s, with his debut album Shaq Diesel achieving platinum status from the Recording Industry Association of America, and even collaborated with the Boston Pops Orchestra, Aaron Carter and Michael Jackson.
His Friday night showing received mixed reactions on social media as attendees were either surprisingly impressed or just plain confused by his participation at the festival.
