A teen seriously wounded by a shark while vacationing with his family in North Carolina on June 15 says he felt the big fish before he saw it, but didn't realize what it was until it was "biting up my left arm."

Hunter Treschl maintained an optimistic outlook despite the recent trauma as he spoke about the attack and the loss of his left arm from his hospital bed in Wilmington, North Carolina .

Treschl was one of two teenagers seriously injured in two separate shark attacks in the same North Carolina town on Sunday.

Both were airlifted to hospitals with life-threatening injuries, but survived. The other victim, a 12-year-old girl, lost part of her arm and suffered a leg injury.

The attacks happened less than 90 minutes apart, but officials said they couldn't confirm whether the same shark was responsible, or give details on the size of the sharks involved.
