LONDON -- British Airways and EasyJet have cancelled all flights between the UK and the Egyptian resort of Sharm el-Sheikh until January following the suspected bombing of a Russian passenger jet in late October that killed all 224 people on board.

Monarch, Thomson and Thomas Cook have cancelled flights until various dates in December.

British Airways has cancelled flights up to and including Jan. 14, and said customers who are due to travel on those services will be contacted and can get a full refund, rebook to a later date or travel to another destination. The decision was made in consultation with the UK government, the airline said.

EasyJet's flights are cancelled until Jan. 6 and it's offering options similar to British Airways for customers.

"We are sorry for the inconvenience this will obviously cause, but we hope that being clear with all our customers at this point helps you to manage your plans with more certainty. The situation is beyond our control and passenger safety will always be our number one priority," the low-cost airline said in a statement on its website.
