William Shatner, who's quite the social media savant, has no unveiled his latest crowd-sourced masterpiece: a mosaic of selfiies that forms an image of Shatner's close friend and Star Trek co-star, Leonard Nimoy. Nimoy passed away at the age of 83 in February.

Why did I ask for all those #LLAP selfies? For a @gishwhes task as a tribute to Leonard. Thank you! pic.twitter.com/3NQZ5siINe— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) August 9, 2015

Shatner began his project at the beginning of August when he sent out a request on Twitter for users to send him selfies while making the famed Vulcan salute. He gave users four days to send in their shots.

I need everyone's help. Take a selfie of you doing the LLAP sign and email the photo to [email protected] pic.twitter.com/b2gTMftn7J— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) August 1, 2015

I'm closing the LLAP selfies at midnight tomorrow ET. Get them in before that.— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) August 5, 2015

As it turns out, the above mosaic was created for GISHWHES, a charity scavenger hunt run by actor Misha Collins (The CW's Supernatural), which also inspired many users to make My Little Ponies adorned with Shatner's face (because it's the Internet).

@WilliamShatner Hi, can you please RT? #Shatnermademedoit @gishwhes pic.twitter.com/MFJd4QmSy4— Stielra (@Bergchel) August 4, 2015

Shatner says over 6,000 different photos were used to create the Nimoy mosaic and he's sent it to the Guinness Book of World Records for consideration, though, for what, he hasn't detailed.

There are over 6,000 images in the Spock mosaic. I want to thank @CBS, @PictureMosaics, @stevenkirk & @SoundwavesTV for their help in this❤️— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) August 9, 2015

BTW, @mishacollins we put this in for a World Record! Fingers crossed! https://t.co/StsH7iHF9p— William Shatner (@WilliamShatner) August 9, 2015
