LONDON -- If the mother of dragons ever detours via London on her way back from Slaver's Bay, we might have something to protect us -- if it doesn't kill us all first.

The She Guardian is an 11-metre-high (36-foot) bronze-winged cat currently standing guard in Marble Arch in central London.

Created by Russian artist Dashi Namdakov over two years, the terrifying beast is an intimidating 4-ton mix of razor sharp wings, huge claws and jagged teeth with the ferocity of a very, very protective mother.

Westminster City Council Deputy Leader Counsellor Robert Davis said that Marble Arch is a "prime location for which we use only the best possible work" and that he hoped the piece "will inspire and delight in equal measure."

It's inspirational and delightful to some; the stuff of nightmares to others.

Westminster City Council says it is creating special iPhone and Android apps with StatueFindr to guide people to the historic statues across central London.

You can see more of Namdakov's work at Halcyon's spaces in Harrods and on New Bond Street.
