Every debate is a winding road.

Sheryl Crow opened up CNN's Democratic presidential debate with the national anthem, confusing audience members. Some think there are cooler people than Crow in 2015 who would be interested in the gig. Others celebrated the choice and her leather pants, which could have been a fun choice for the candidates themselves. Many took issue with her less-than-stellar vocals.

Candidates should be aware that aligning themselves with a controversial figure like Crow could make or break their campaign.
