Ships old and new fill Amsterdam’s waterways

Hundreds of boats big and small cruised through the North Sea canal in Amsterdam this week as part of the run up to the SAIL Amsterdam festival, an event that runs every five years to celebrate the Netherlands' long history of maritime culture.

Vessels of varying sizes and ages began arriving Wednesday and will stay moored in Amsterdam’s canals for the rest of the weekend.
