This is not the first time a shooting has occurred at Pride events in the California city, which has a rich history of support for gay rights. In 2014, a shooting in San Francisco's South of Market neighborhood during Pride left a 22-year-old woman injured and three arrested.

The incident came amid a particularly poignant Pride gathering Saturday, which followed Friday's Supreme Court decision to legalize gay marriage across the United States.
