SideStep, the travel search company, has appointed Matthew Heist, former vice president of business operations at Yahoo, as its senior VP of global search. Heist will be in charge of SideStep's main search as well as its international search. At Yahoo, Heist helped cultivate a number of Yahoo vertical search and commerce properties, like Yahoo Shopping, Real Estate, Travel, Autos and Local Search, which included the Yellow Pages and Maps.
