Malaysia's Bersih ("clean" in Malay) movement held a massive rally the past weekend. The movement is driven by 84 organisations in the country that have banded together, largely to oppose the current coalition government in Malaysia.

The latest rally is the fourth that Bersih has held since 2007, and high up on its agenda was the push for the resignation of current Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak.

Although Najib was recently cleared of a corruption charge after it was discovered that he had received US$700 million in "donations," protestors over the weekend demanded he step down, while also accusing his government of not being transparent.

Organisers said about 50,000 protestors showed up in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia's capital, and hundreds more Malaysians protested overseas in some 50 countries.
