As if his all-female Ghostbusters didn’t sound great enough, director Paul Feig just announced that Sigourney Weaver will make an appearance in the film.
Gang, trying to keep surprises but this is about to leak, so I'll tell you myself: the awesome Sigourney Weaver is going to be in our movie!— Paul Feig (@paulfeig) September 25, 2015
Weaver was, of course, a major player in the 1984 original; her character Dana had the toughest job of all (tolerating Bill Murray's Peter Venkman). Weaver returned for the 1989 sequel, in which paranormal forces attacked Dana and her son.

Other original Ghostbusters in Feig’s cast include Murray and a rumored Dan Akroyd, while Ernie Hudson and Rick Moranis are likely waiting by their phones. There’s no word yet on whether the old cast will pay tribute to their roles in the new film; it's likely that they'll embody completely new characters.
But the most important question of all is:
Ghostbusters will release summer 2016.
