Quite a lot of buzz grew over latter half of this past weekend about a supposed Microsoft ploy to bring Silverlight onto the desktop to compete with Adobe’s AIR platform. Well, today a representative from Redmond has spoken up on about the purported plan...and confirmed it! Only to add a big whopping “eventually” for all well-wishers to chew on, according to Martin LaMonica of CNET News.

I speak with a fair amount of ignorance here, but I suspect that the world will see Microsoft launch a Silverlight bridge to the desktop sooner rather than later, as it would be utterly illogical for the company to allow Adobe much headway without a challenge from its own up-and-coming brand.
