LONDON -- When browsing an online women's clothing store for a new bra, the last thing you'd probably expect to stumble across is a copy of Adolf Hitler's autobiographical manifesto Mein Kampf.

However, for Sylvie Metcalfe, who was recently perusing women's clothing website SimplyBe, that was exactly what happened.

Metcalfe made the odd discovery on Monday, and tweeted a screengrab at the store.

Hey @SimplyBeUK I don't think that's quite the right picture for the full cup wired black bra... pic.twitter.com/sLUNYD1h2N— Sylvie Metcalfe (@SylvieMett) December 7, 2015

SimplyBe then responded, and the following slightly surreal exchange took place.

@SylvieMett Oh no! We've had a few site issues with wrong images showing. Thank you for raising it, we have passed it onto the team here to— SimplyBe.co.uk (@SimplyBeUK) December 7, 2015

@SylvieMett sort out asap!— SimplyBe.co.uk (@SimplyBeUK) December 7, 2015

@SimplyBeUK is it always hitler pics or did I just get lucky?— Sylvie Metcalfe (@SylvieMett) December 7, 2015

@SylvieMett It can be any image from across our sites, it has just been a very unfortunate one this time.— SimplyBe.co.uk (@SimplyBeUK) December 7, 2015

A couple of hundred retweets later and other people had begun to chip in to the exchange.

It seemed that the problem was indeed more widespread than just one Hitler image.

.@SylvieMett @SimplyBeUK I'm so confused as to why one of the designers would have uploaded Mein Kampf. Is this your default image?— Sarah-Elizabeth Daly (@selizabethdaly) December 7, 2015

@SimplyBeUK @SylvieMett You also weirdly have 'hitler' in some of your page sources. Did one of your developers take the huff?— Sarah-Elizabeth Daly (@selizabethdaly) December 7, 2015

It wasn't just Mein Kampf, either.

Um, @SimplyBeUK @SylvieMett - found another... Kajagoogoo jumpsuit? Why the hell not? pic.twitter.com/PApb45Qh35— Sarah-Elizabeth Daly (@selizabethdaly) December 7, 2015

No, but really @SimplyBeUK, I think it's time to sack your developer. #SimplyBeAnyPictureButTheRightOne pic.twitter.com/7Op3GYZuD6— Sarah-Elizabeth Daly (@selizabethdaly) December 7, 2015

Eventually, the jokes started.

@SylvieMett @Hannamayj @SimplyBeUK to be fair it is a picture of a tit— wardy (@elwardo86) December 7, 2015

Things escalated quickly.

Finally, the whole thing ended in the only way it was ever going to end. With a photoshop of Hitler in a bra.

A fittingly strange end to a bizarre chapter of Internet history.
