SINGAPORE -- Most women in Singapore don't want to date a guy who's balding or has a kid, apparently. And most men here would be turned off by women who wear too much makeup or care too much about money.
Paktor, a local dating app, just released results of a survey done across 2,845 of its (presumably heterosexual) users. The users were between 18 and 50 years of age, and there was a nearly equal split between men and women.
Going by its findings, Singaporeans sound like a pretty judgy bunch.
The top three turn-offs for men here are materialism, women having high expectations for their partners, and wearing too much makeup.
Singapore women found bald or balding men a major turn-off, and a significant portion -- a third -- said they didn't want to date someone of a different race.
Most of the sampled user base said they were OK dating people of different nationalities, but more than half were irked by partners who already have children from a previous relationship.
Here's where things might go south, though. Most of the guys said they were OK dating someone who earned more than them, but only 48% of women said they would tolerate dating someone who earned less. This probably won't go down well with the men who didn't want all those materialistic women with high expectations.
Paktor, founded in 2013, says it has 5 million users concentrated in the Southeast Asian region. It raised S$10 million (US$7 million) in a Series B funding round in July this year.
