David Recordon announced a new service entitled the "Six Apart Relationship Update Stream" today in a blog post shortly after an appearance with Brad Fitzpatrick at the Web 2.0 Summit today. The tool released was aluded to last month in a post Recordon made at Six Apart.

Recordon describes this developer platform as an "endless feed of social relationship data", and not something for regular users. It launched with the ability to stream real-time public changes from LiveJournal, Ma.gnolia, with support for Hi5, GetSatisfaction, SmugMug, Plaxo and Vox coming soon.

The overlying goal of the tool, according to Recordon, is to bring down the "walled gardens" and "make it easier for all of our applications and services online to talk to each other." It would allow compliant services to share data marked public from their social network or profile, allow those updates to be made in real time and ensure quality of data, as it would be secured by the services providing the updates.
