Many people assumed the all-you-can-eat buffet died with hygiene laws, but there are still a few Sizzler restaurants scattered around Australia.
The majority of these are about to be shut down (childhood memories crushed in the process), with the announcement Sizzler Australia will close a small number of their 25 stores. The company appears to be headed the way of the horrible huts of Pizza Hut in the '90s -- straight to the closed archive of overeating nightmares.
But before we say our farewells to the all-you-can-eat buffet, ice cream and salad bar, the company has been kind enough to indulge our nostalgic fantasies. In a fitting tribute, news.com.au secured the recipe of the beloved free cheesy bread, which is also on the company's website, and shared it with the world.
It's a good day.
Cheese Bread Recipe
Ingredients:
• Butter or margarine
• Kraft Parmesan Cheese
• Thick white bread
Recipe:
• In a bowl, mix equal parts butter or margarine with the parmesan cheese to create a paste.
• Spread the paste on one side of the bread.
• Fry the bread paste side down over a medium heat until golden brown while resting a flat plate or lid on top so the bread steams.
We can't believe it is so easy. We feel ridiculous. Pass the parmesan, please.
