Ebay-owned VoIP provider Skype is experiencing software issues which are preventing users from logging in today. eBay's stock also suffered a slight dip in morning trading today.

In a statement on the company's website, they are saying the outage could last anywhere from 12 - 24 hours - a ridiculous amount of time. Imagine if a website - or even a phone company - went down for that long.

Some of you may be having problems logging into Skype. Our engineering team has determined that it’s a software issue. We expect this to be resolved within 12 to 24 hours. Meanwhile, you can simply leave your Skype client running and as soon as the issue is resolved, you will be logged in. We apologize for the inconvenience.

Additionally, downloads of Skype have been temporarily disabled. We will make downloads available again as quickly as possible.

Ebay stock is taking a small hit, down nearly 2.37%, or $.82 at the time of this writing. However, it's worth noting that the market is down overall today.
