SlashID is a new alternative to OpenID and other identification management tools out there. It's a bit different from OpenID, however, in that it's browser-based and encrypted. This means that all of your information is associated with the browser you're using, which makes it rather similar to the password memory tools already included in your browser, which at least lets you choose which websites will remember your information.
SlashID must be used by a participating website in order to extend these options down to you. There are some very helpful options included in SlashID, which let you create multiple accounts that can be used for different websites. If you'd like a participating to have your address and phone number, but not a dating site, then SlashID can handle all of these profiles for you, of which you can set up however many you'd like. In this manner, SlashID can be used for verification purposes, and will also make it easier for you to create and maintain online accounts, as information updated in your SlashID will update the associated accounts as well.
