One teen in the Bahamas just took the walking-into-prom game to an entirely new level.

Ashvonn Russell competed for the "Best Entrance" award at her prom in Abaco Islands in the northern Bahamas. (Yes, that's a real award.) She arrived in an ambulance and wouldn't "wake up" until her Prince Charming (a.k.a. her prom date) Johnny Auguste kissed her, a la Sleeping Beauty.

"All of my paintings and drawings... are mostly inspired by fairy tales,” Russell told BuzzFeed News. “Sleeping Beauty with a modern twist captured my interest for my prom entrance.”

When photos of her entrance hit Twitter, the fairytale entrance took a twist from happily-ever-after. Some pointed out that the ambulance was being tied up for a dramatic prom entrance when it could have been used to, you know, get people to the hospital.

@CaptainPajamas bit much! Creative but using public resources for drama isn't smart! #js— Donna Herold (@Donnajcherold) June 15, 2015

Others thought the move was in poor taste.

@CaptainPajamas @callmedollar That's the dumbest ish ever. I'm embarrassed FOR her. A damn ambaLAMPS?! Naw.— U Like It, I Love It (@JerzeeFresh924) June 15, 2015

@kisssmy_x3 lmfao why would anybody ever want to pull up to prom on a stretcher??! — influential. (@JamesGandy_) June 14, 2015

One of the biggest questions still remains: How did Russell manage to swing the ride in an emergency transport vehicle?

@AnjunaLemon lmfao so my sisters friend blacked out and had to take an ambulance and it was over $2,000 just for the ride — E (@electroniceli) June 14, 2015

“I can never apologize for being artistic and creative because that’s what makes me who I am,” she told BuzzFeed News. "To those that have creative minds like myself, do not let the negativity stop you ... always dare to be different.”
