We heard earlier this week that Echo Communications will be acquiring Sling Media, which already has a set top box that will record and send your favorite television programs and let you watch them remotely from a PC or mobile phone, as well as tools to control your TV from your PC or mobile phone. So what are the next steps? A video-sharing social network, of course!
Sling Media has indicated that it would like to speed up the deals its been making with cable networks, broadcasters and other content owners in order to launch this network. With a new tool from the company, which is Sling Clip + Sling, you'll be able to record snippets of a television program and then share it with others on this video-sharing site. No further details on if this will be integrated with Sling Media's other existing tools, or how else the network will work, or differentiate from other sites.
