If grabbing your phone and actually typing in a text message is too much of a hassle, you might want to consider the latest wearable tech prototype: the Smart Hoodie.
Armed with a GSM chip and an Arduino board, the hoodie can recognize your gestures -- such as rolling up your sleeve or putting on your hood -- and send an SMS to a pre-determined contact.
In the demonstration video (above), the Smart Hoodie is mostly used for texting your friends and family, though there are other obvious uses, such as texting for help in case of emergency.
The concept, built by NYU grad students Rucha Patwardhan and Alina Balean, is far from production and doesn't solve many potential problems, such as what happens when you wash your hoodie.
With chips getting more powerful, smaller and cheaper, though, we would not be surprised to see most of our clothes (hoodies included) get "smarter" in one way or another in the years to come.
