Here's video proof that smartphone addiction can be hazardous to your health

First, to be clear: This is quite a dome-shot, and we hope the woman who took it didn't suffer any serious injury.

But this is also what they call a "teachable moment." We've all been there -- absorbed in our phones while ignoring real life right in front of us -- but luckily it doesn't usually end this badly.

Two women at a Charlotte Hornets game on Wednesday night were busy staring at a smartphone screen. They had front-row seats, and the game was going on. Then Hornets guard Lance Stephenson jumped to make a pass, the ball was tipped and, well, have a look for yourself:

The lesson, as always: Don't let your smartphone get in the way of real life -- but especially so if you're lucky enough to score front-row tickets to an NBA game.

But wait, there's more. At another Hornets home game last season, an eerily similar accident happened -- this time courtesy of guard Gerald Henderson, whose errant pass knocked over a woman walking court-side:

Strange coincidence? Something in the water in Charlotte? A deeper conspiracy of some sort? Either way, folks, be careful at those Hornets home games.
