New Vector smartwatch isn't the smartest, but 30-day battery life makes up for it

If don't want to charge your Apple Watch every night, a new company called Vector has a smartwatch that wants to liberate you from the charging cable.

The battery on Vector's new smartwatch will last for 30 days, according to the company. It will come to stores in the U.S. and the UK in September.

Vector's watch has a non-touch, black-and-white screen that displays clock faces, notifications and various fitness tracking apps. The watch can also be paired with any iOS, Android or Windows Phone device and is water resistant up to 50 meters, which isn't too shabby for a smartwatch.

The concept behind the Vector Watch is to be primarily a watch with some additional smart functions. It isn't going to liberate you from checking your phone like the Apple Watch (theoretically) will, but it splits the difference between that and a traditional watch.

It also looks more like a traditional watch than some of its other smartwatch competitors. Vector seems to be trying to win over the hearts of those who already wear traditional watches, rather than the tech-obsessed users of the Apple Watch and other Android Wear devices.

People interested can preorder the round-faced Vector Luna for $349 or the square-faced Meridian for $199. The limited edition preorder watches come with either a nylon or leather NATO strap; the full line of Vector watches hits stores in September.
