Parenting can get a little messy sometimes, so it's natural to want to share your woes with other parents on social media.

Comedian and dad Adam Hills posted a picture of himself changing his daughter's soiled diaper on Friday, using the hashtag #smelfie. Almost immediately, Hills' funny picture turned into a full-on Twitter movement.

Within hours, Hills was sent other smelfies from other devoted dads who not only appreciated his message that "real men change nappies," but also commiserated with his olfactory pain. But, a dad's got to do what a dad's got to do.

Not only where these dad sharing their own funny selfies, they also shared helpful tips and all the dirty (very dirty) details of the changing table.

I'm sorry gentlemen, but don't expect any accolades from me... Seriously, belly up, put your big boy pants on and be a Dad. #smelfie— Robynn Clark (@robynnleigh) March 9, 2015

While critics of the smelfie trend feel these dads should stop complaining about their changing duties, Hills asserts that sharing his photos and hashtag are all about celebrating fatherhood, and encouraging others to do the same.

BTW I'm RT'ing #smelfie photos to encourage more dads to change nappies. Anyone unhappy with that needs a sense of humour transplant.— Adam Hills (@adamhillscomedy) March 7, 2015
