If we learned one thing about the comedians who have appeared on Saturday Night Live during the show's 40th anniversary special on Sunday night, it was that many almost wet themselves in front of Lorne Michaels, the show's executive producer.

The SNL special included a very nostalgic montage showing cast members' fresh-faced auditions for the live sketch show, during which Gilda Radner, Jimmy Fallon, Amy Poehler and Seth Meyers look like nervous children. The auditions reel also included several favorite members impersonating characters they later went on to make famous on the show, including Will Ferrell's "Harry Caray" and Dana Carvey's "Church Lady."

But even more interesting were the auditions from the comedians who didn't get the call back to Studio 8H: Stephen Colbert, Jim Carrey, Zach Galifianakis and Kevin Hart.

Bad call, Lorne. But we hear they still managed to do OK.
