Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary special kicked off Sunday night with a musical cold open from Jimmy Fallon and Justin Timberlake -- Fallon who used to be a cast member and Timberlake who has hosted five times previously. Their five-minute musical interlude recapped all of the show's most memorable sketches and catchphrases in a choreographed rap that only JT and Jimmy could pull off.

Steve Martin, another member of SNL's five-timers hosting club, then took over for a more traditional monologue where he paid tribute to show producer Lorne Michaels, poked fun at the mostly all-white cast and argued which category of celebrity made the most memorable host.
And, of course, several of those memorable hosts, including Alec Baldwin, Tom Hanks, Chris Rock, Peyton Manning and Miley Cryus, showed up to argue that they were the best.
No conclusion was reached -- except it's probably safe to say Peyton Manning lost that battle.
