NEW YORK -- Celebrities, they're just like us. They love to send emoji like the little cat face with heart eyes.
But anyone familiar with the emoji keyboard knows far too well that it could use a few additions.
On the red carpet for Saturday Night Live's 40th anniversary special on Sunday, current and former cast members -- as well as guest stars -- revealed the emoji they wish existed.
Cast member Kenan Thompson would like to see a marijuana emoji, while Gov. Sarah Palin thinks an emoji depicting nachos and guacamole would come in handy. Meanwhile, plenty of other older stars didn't really know what an emoji was. (We're looking at you, Robert De Niro.)
The Unicode Consortium, which is the nonprofit organization governing the Unicode Standard and is responsible for the official emoji collection, says it will launch a major update in mid-2015 with more emoji. Last year, it unveiled a list of 37 candidates, including a taco, which is one of the most-requested emoji online.
