Wednesday in Sochi saw American Ted Ligety win gold in the giant slalom, making him the first man from the U.S. to ever win that event in the Winter Olympics, as well as the first American man to win two gold medals in alpine skiing (Ligety also won in 2006). That was probably the day's biggest news stateside, but medals were also awarded in the biathlon, speed skating and bobsledding.
