Social Flowers - Send Flowers Through Social Networks

SocialFlowers may look like your standard online flower store, but it has a modern angle: sending flowers though social networks. Well, one social network for now - Facebook.

After installing the Social Flowers Facebook app, the sender chooses a recipient from his friends list, then chooses the flowers and pays. There's no need to know your receipient's address: social flowers will send them an email requesting it, and the flowers get sent out by local florists in the United States and Canada.

It's an interesting idea that brings real-world merchandise into Facebook apps (there are also a number of T-shirt applications). The only hurdle may be that a mail entitled "Your Friend Bob wants to Send You Free Flowers!" might be quickly rerouted to your spam folder. Perhaps they've been smarter than that with subject lines, and if gift giving through social networks becomes more commonplace then the problem may subside. Expansion beyond Facebook is planned.
