Each year the Social Good Summit brings together world leaders, social activists and change-makers for just a few days to discuss the challenges facing our world. With the goal to spark a global conversation surrounding topics discussed at UN Week, Social Good Summit speakers take the stage with passion and purpose.

Last year’s speakers and panelists lit up the stage from day one, discussing topics like the power of social media to stop oppressive regimes and the ability of mobile phones to beat infectious diseases. Speakers included Malala Yousafzai, Ian Somerhalder, Al Gore and many others.

This year’s speaker roster is shaping up to be even more diverse and powerful than previous years. Speakers including Michael Dell, founder and CEO of Dell, Inc., Geena Rocero, model and founder of Gender Proud, and Troy Carter, founder and CEO of Atom Factory, will address the most pressing issues of today in order to shape a better future by the year 2030.

As this year’s summit is right around the corner, let’s take a look back at some of the inspiring quotes from day one of the 2013 summit, featured in the gallery below.
